This is an amazing account of the fall of the USSR and attempts to piece its economy back together after the Cold War, in whatever haphazard manner that might be whether through oligarchs, mafias, the KGB, or the common man. In these days of increasingly restrictive press in Russia, it's refreshing to see a true insider account from someone who tells it like it is. And Busch is not just any insider; he was one of the first Western businessmen to bring capitalist ideas to the "new" Russia, and helped run one of the biggest metals businesses in the country. Free For All takes no prisoners, reading like a who's who of politics and industry in the post-Soviet Union, but yet Busch's often sarcastic approach to business and life gets the reader laughing out loud at the insanity of many aspects of one of the world's supposed "superpowers". It's particularly interesting how Busch sets the stage for Putin to take over.
